School with an affinity for robotics: Max-Planck Gymnasium Göttingen
Why did you decide to teach robotics?
Robotics is one of the most exciting fields of computer science for us and an essential pillar of our teaching. Due to the direct interaction with complex technical systems, robotics is particularly suitable for computer science lessons: sensors & actuators, i.e. input & output become visible.
In which subjects and grades is robotics taught?
We offer two robotics workshops: Beginners for grades 5 & 6 and the advanced group for all other grades. We regularly prepare for competitions and attend the Robocup and the Göttingen Robotics Competition with our LEGO EV3 systems. In computer science classes, the use of Lego robots is mandatory in grade 9, and our collaborative work concept includes working with different scenarios in grades 8, 10 & 12.
Presentation of deployment scenarios
As described above, we plan to use the arms in Year 8 (“From Automata Model to Visual Programming of a Realistic Industrial Robot”), Year 10 (“Collaborative Machine Learning” & “Replicating an Industrial Production Line”), and Year 12 (“Text-Based Programming of Soft Robots”).
We are multipliers because…
… the work with robots fascinates and inspires us and we want to pass on the enthusiasm. The good equipment at our school and our many years of experience in the field help a lot here.
